Step 1 -- Build a website from Ubertor.com

Hover your cursor to the link and click the scroll wheel button on your mouse to open the site. Click on "Build my Site" or the "Order" tab in the main menu.

NOTE: This is a critical step for you because this will ensure that you know what the order form looks like and can answer client's questions about the order form.

  • When ordering your sites we would like you to use a standardized myubertor.com domain name.
  • Your domain name should be in the following format:
otd.firstnamelastname.myubertor.com

Please use otd and your full name for the website name. For example: otdrizzaestoconing.myubertor.com

Step 2 -- Begin customization

Once your site is built, you can log in by clicking on the "Customize my Site" button.

Please fill in the required fields. Use your real contact information for your web site.

Step 3 - Package Information:

Note: At this point, ask your test facilitator for the promo code before proceeding. Click the link like this on the top of the page to encode the promo code like this.

Choose the "Zero" plan.

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE: The following steps are instructions for you to customize your website. We'd like you to complete a few simple tasks to familiarize yourself with the Ubertor interface.

This is a Technical Skills Test. Our goal here is to assess your technical skills. Questions that will arrive at answers for you to perform on this test will not be entertained.

Ubertor clients seek help with customizing their sites in two ways:

Customize your website using the Ubertor Control Panel with the following tasks.

Step 4 - Using Your Website: (note: From this point in the test you can work from home.)

Pretend you are Jane Doe's Virtual Assistant and she is a Real Estate Agent.

Jane just landed a client who wants to sell their condo. Being a determined, hardworking Virtual Assistant, Jane has asked you to market the house for her on her Ubertor website.

Use the Ubertor Software to market the house for sale on the internet. You will need to login to your Ubertor Control Panel to complete these steps.

*Forgot the URL for your Control Panel? Check your e-mail. A confirmation e-mail was sent to your e-mail address when you created your website.

Market Jane's house on her website with the following steps:

1. Add a listing to your website by hand. "By Hand" means you'll need to type in or copy and paste all the information about the property into the website.

A listing can be anything from a house, a condominium, a townhouse, or an apartment but in this case we will add a Condo.

  • Add an internal virtual tour. Use the following files.
    • Thumbnail and Panoramic Views
    • Provide this title for your tour "OTD Property Tour".
    • Add the following description to your tour: "A beautiful panoramic of the living room"
  • Add a Google Map that shows the location of your listing.

2. Enhance your HOME PAGE.

Your HOME PAGE must have the following details:

  • At least 150 words, minimum of two paragraphs on your page.
  • Add the following picture:
  • Add two hyperlinks. The other link should link to another website
    • Link some text on your Home page to your Contact page
    • Link some text on your Home page to Google

3. Enhance your CONTACT PAGE

Your CONTACT PAGE must have the following details: 

  • At least 150 words, minimum of two paragraphs.
  • Add the following picture:
  • Add two hyperlinks. The other link should link to another website
    • Link some text on your Contacts page to your Home page
    • Link some text on your Home page to Google

4. Add a new MAIN PAGE called "Local Real Estate News". (HINT: Use the Create New Main Page option).

  • Make this page your second page on your website (HINT: You want to move this page under your Home page. Think of the MAGNIFYING GLASS as your friend!)
  • Add some dummy text to the page. Use this Real Estate News as your dummy text.

5. Add a new sub-page under the Main Page labeled "Local Real Estate News" called "Coal Harbour News" (HINT: Use the New Sub Page option under Local Real Estate News)

  • Add some dummy text to the page. Use this Coal Habour News as your dummy text.

6. Add links to your Links Page (HINT: Don't be confused, you're just going to your Links page in your control panel)

7. A banner is the photo at the top of your website. Create and upload banner(s) for your website (HINT: Use Picnik to resize your banner. Check the size of the banner and use Picnick to cut and crop to that exact size)

8. Write 2 blog entries using the BLOG tool in the control panel.

Be ORIGINAL and CREATIVE. DON'T PLAGIARIZE OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK.

  • Add one blog post and add it to the general category
    • Write a blog about what you did the past weekend, and add related pictures/video to your blog. You may use Google or Youtube for your content.
  • Create a new category. Under this category, write a blog about the last typhoon (ondoy/pepeng); your experience/observation. You may also add related pictures/video to your blog using Google or Youtube.

9. Setup the Small Portrait Photo for your website (HINT: www.picnik.com is also your friend for resizing photos).

10. Add a domain to your website and make it primary. (HINT: You'd normally need to buy a domain but in this case you do NOT need to buy one. Because of this, you will not complete the name servers part, just simply add the domain)

11. An email alias is simply a forwarding e-mail address. Each e-mail alias simply forwards e-mail message on to each specified e-mail address.

Create 2 E-mail aliases on your website.  Your e-mail aliases must have the following details: 

  • Create an alias for coolperson@firstlastname.net that will go to coolperson@gmail.com
  • Create an alias for otdissocool@firstlastname.net that will go to otdissocool@gmail.com

12. Add these FREE features to your website (HINT: They can be found in your Dashboard)

  • Google Analytics (HINT: The icon looks like a bar graph)
  • Google Map Key (HINT: The icon looks like a globe)

13. Frame in the website cnn.com in a new main page and label the page "CNN Fun".

14. Change your password and e-mail for your website.

15. Embed a walkscore to your listing description using Walkscore.com.

16. Set up your Twitter account and link it to your Ubertor site.

17. Add a Twitter widget to your homepage.
